In the college of engineering, a discussion held of master thesis which entitled” The effect of rain falls on quantitative and qualitative evaluation for sewerage system in Samawa city as a case study”. This thesis is done by the postgraduate student Mariam Hasan Muhammed and supervised by professor Dr. Wakid Hamid Hasan (from University of Kerbala) and professor assistant Dr. Haider Muhammed Ni’ma (from Al Kasim green university).

The discussion committee was from the following honorable academic:

  1. Professor Dr. Basim Khalil Naiel Al Saeedi – Head (University of Kerbala)
  2. Professor Dr. Musa Habib Jasim – Member (University of Kerbala)
  3. Professor assistant Dr. Zaid Abdul Redha – Member (Al Kasim green university)

The thesis aimed to predict the quantity of sewerage water by applying a model of a rain management system (SWMM), as well as the quality of sewerage system for dealing with all leaking out rain water at several occasion for the area under study. A solution has been suggested to minimize the quantity and quality of sewerage water at rain fall time.

A calibration had been made for the quantity manually by changing the quality of the effective cumulative water within the standard range R (0.86) and NMSE (0.123) according to the simulated and measured quantities. The model had been proved to be acceptable, whereas the quality model for the analyzed result had referred to acceptable range value R (0.81-0.82).

The final result showed that this program could be considered as a strong tool to predict the size of flood and how the changes in SWMM to reduce the pollution of rain fall. So, this technique had evaluated the suggested solutions to minimize the flood and pollution in the sewerage system.
